About Training and Placement Cell

The Training and Placement Cell of SSM College was established in the year 2012-13. Since its inception, the Placement Cell has played a pivot role in creating the linkage between students and the corporate world to provide maximum job opportunities to students.

In the world, where competition grows by minute and multiples by an hour, placements have become a yardstick for excellence. At SSM College, we always strive to create an environment in which each individual is encouraged to step beyond the confines of the academic and administrative disciplines to explore newer vistas of employment. The Training and Placement Cell was conceptualized and initiated taking into consideration the education and vocational training that they receive within the campus in the business environment. The Placement Cell conducts various training programs, workshops, seminars, motivational lectures by industry experts, and regularly takes up various initiatives to develop job-oriented skills among students.

The Placement Cell of SSM College is working constantly to provide a variety of job opportunities to suit the different needs of students. The enthusiastic participation of the students in all the recruitment drives acted as a fuel to drive cell forward. The rate at which the Placement Cell is growing, it is quite evident that being aligned to the vision of the institution, it will keep on providing much higher platform to the students every year to lend their talent for the service in the corporate sphere.

Objectives

  • To ensure that students have the information and skills necessary for an effective job search.
  • To create awareness among students regarding available career options and to help them in identifying their career objectives.
  • To update the students with latest market trends periodically through various initiatives to prepare them for the industry expectation.
  • To conduct professional training programs outside the curriculum in order to hone employment skills of the students and to transform them into professionals.
  • To develop self-reliance in the students and develop the right job attitude in them.
  • To develop life-long career decision-making skills in students.
  • To help the students in gaining final placement in reputed companies.

Activities of the Cell


  • Placement Oriented Activities:
    Placement Cell organizes a variety of training, placement, career counseling, and personality development activities to groom the employment skills of students.
  • Pre-Placement Talks:
    Pre-Placement Talks help students to have the knowledge about the expectations of company and process of recruitment. These kinds of talks help the students to overcome their nervousness and build confidence in them so that they can achieve their goals. It is compulsory for students to attend as it is full of knowledge.
  • Group Discussions:
    Group Discussion built teamwork, and good communication skills in the students. Placement Cell at SSM College regularly held these type of session in which students were given topics for discussion. Through these sessions Placement Cell tries to develop various skills like listening, public speaking, and critical thinking in students.
  • CV Building:
    While coming to applying for a job CV plays vital role in the selection of students. Our Placement Cell provides the format to students and helps them in building their CV. Students were taught to find their hidden talents and to make themselves proficient in relevant field. Spending ample amount of time on CV Building is recommended.
  • Aptitude Test:
    Placement team has a special teacher for conducting aptitude mock. These kinds of sessions develop various skills like problem-solving, numerical skills, time-management in students. An aptitude test allows employers to test the skills of the candidates using a variety of different testing formats. This activity helps the students in on campus and off campus placement.
  • Individual Counseling:
    Nothing beats this, and we encourage and advise every student to find time in the midst of the chaos to reflect and prepare on oneself. From writing down answers to frequently asked HR questions to reviewing what has already been taught in UG and PG programmes to stay current with current events, and so on.
  • Mock Interviews:
    Mock Interview is like a simulation of an actual job interview. It provides our students with an opportunity to practice for an interview and receive feedback on their interviewing skills. The mock interviews are conducted as a practice job interview held with a professional career counselor. A mock interview helps our students to learn how to answer difficult questions, develop interview strategies, improve communication skills, and reduce stress before an actual job interview.
  • Personality Development Sessions:
    We believe that personality can be shaped and confidence can be built into everyone. It needs expertise and a fine eye to work over the strengths and sensitivity to work over the weaknesses .Students learn to imbibe universal values through interactive sessions which help them to retrospect, think and act before doing.
